“I can only say that being a twin was fun and competitive when we were younger, as we were constantly compared. However, as we grew up the competitiveness disappeared.
We are both 46 and are very close and lucky to have each other as a best friend.”

“Everything about us is pretty much the same. But we are very different on the inside. As we are 2 separate people. We are close and do nearly everything together.”

“Here is a photo in the 75th year of our precious NHS of myself and my twin. I have been a NHS registered nurse for 34 years and still am passionate about nursing, caring and treating patients and teaching student nurses in a university. My twin served for 30 years as a police office, much of that in the met police. Following retirement, she is now using her skills as a NHS community HCA and making a real difference. We have always supported and encouraged each with our careers and had so many “twin thing moments” with how we approach our work and the feedback we receive.
Being a twin has enabled lifelong friendship, strength to overcome adversity and unconditional love. In memory of the amazing Tina Turner ‘its simply the best!'”

These twins careers took different paths but ultimately converged in the fascinating world of forensics! After studying Archaeological Sciences and Pathobiology, they each found their way into forensic science. Now retired, they’re embarking on a new adventure – giving joint talks on forensic science aboard the PaO cruiser Arcadia!
This marks their first-ever ‘double act, sharing their expertise and experiences with audiences at sea. We love seeing how TwinsUK members take their unique journeys and come full circle!

“My mother always insisted we were not identical as there were two placentas.
We ‘knew’ we were we looked alike and people got us mixed up, even my parents).
We were always looking at joining a twin’s project from our teens but we were too ‘scared’ to do it.
We joined in 2010 (I think) and both had questionnaires to complete. We had an appointment at Kings College and completed tests which confirmed we were identical. At that time, we completed the gut test (glad to have done it), and very glad to help with your research.”
