“The three hour visit was busy with numerous computer, physical and mental tasks, plus donations of blood for TwinsUK and KCL research. We compared notes afterwards and enjoyed a canteen lunch in our TwinsUK t-shirts. These t-shirts connect us when we are apart and will remind us of a worthwhile contribution we made in London.”

“We are Jen and Jan and first enrolled with TwinsUK 30 years ago! We love coming up to the unit and getting involved with your research and have taken part with a few studies over the years. We think the worst was the muffins haha. Our osteopenia was diagnosed as part of your research and enabled us to start treatment early. The staff have always been friendly with a great sense of humour – you needed it with us two ! The parties were fantastic, it was awesome to meet fellow twins. Keep up the great work you do, and thank you for letting us be involved.”

“My Twin Carol and I enjoyed our day at the centre. Especially as Carol spends time abroad and we got to spend time doing tests together. Attached is a birthday party photo.
We both say … we get knocked down, but we get up again! As we have been through so much together.”

“We have throughly enjoyed taking part in TwinsUK research over the past decades visiting London for parties and research investigations and receiving newsletters keeping us up to date with the progress. Photo taken at the 21st birthday party!”

“We were delighted to sign up for the TwinsUK Biobank, as we were more than happy to help with the clinical studies. We attended St Thomas’s Hospital where we met the team who were going to carry out the various tests. They were all very nice and made us feel at ease. Throughout the morning the team explained everything they were doing and made it clear that we could stop at any time. We both thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would not hesitate to do it again. It made a nice change for us to get the chance to do something together.”

“We are big fans of TwinsUK and have loved coming along to the hospital for the last 15-20 years to help with health research. We also like following the amazing things that TwinsUK do. At 67 we are still getting up to mischief together – we speak on the phone at least once a day, sometimes 10 times a day. Although we’re both married we are like a married couple who spend a lot of time together.”
